“Where's My Super Suit?”

“Where's My Super Suit?” is one of my favorite lines uttered by the character Frozone in the 2004 animated superhero film The Incredibles.

Backstory – superheroes have been outlawed, and therefore exist among the citizenry in hiding. An attack on the city is creating havoc and devastation. The situation demands a response.

This is where Frozone’s line comes into play. He can no longer remain in the shadows. Who he is in his core demands that he responds to this crisis. But in order to do so he must once again don his supersuit which has been stored by his wife (or maybe hidden) the point is, Frozone can’t find it.

While the scene and the discussion around the suit is one of the funniest in the movie, there is a deeper significance to this scene – ok, maybe not intended, but never the less there.

This is all about identity and the role we must step into to experience the next level of our lives because every new level demands a different version of ourselves.

This is all about identity and the role we must step into to experience the next level of our lives because every new level demands a different version of ourselves. It’s about stepping into what is needed so we can rise to the occasion.

It’s the idea of putting on, of stepping into those things that give us the confidence to perform. The things that remind us of who we are and what we are capable of.

I have a place that I go to become the writer, a hat I wear and a certain song that kicks off my workout. They remind me that things are about to get real. There is music and soft lighting at dinner to remind me to slow down, be present, and enjoy the moment with the one I love.

What does it for you? Feel free to post and let me know what you are stepping into or putting on to realize that better version of yourself.

PSA: Never wear the cape. It never ends well when you wear the cape.
