Aging Isn’t a Decline—It’s a Rebirth

We’ve been sold a lie.

That aging is a slow fade into irrelevance. That we’re meant to quiet down, shrink back, and become less of who we were. Society feeds us the story of decline, of being “past our prime,” of just waiting.

I’m not buying it.

This weekend, I’ll be stepping into another Spartan competition (The DEKA Mile) —a full-body, functional fitness event that pushes the limits of both physical and mental strength. At 62, I’m not just showing up—I’m training, growing, and performing at a level that would’ve shocked my younger self.

Aging, for me, isn’t decline. It’s design.

It’s an evolution into a deeper kind of strength—one that isn’t just measured in reps or time, but in resolve, resilience, and relevance.

Because the second half of life doesn’t have to be about losing—it can be about becoming.
